For Jen and Wendi

This is for Jen and Wendi, who both pointed out that I failed to post this parental caution, mostly due to the fact that my own husband broke this rule more than once.
Note: Don't try this at home!

Parenting 101

I thought these were hilarious. I am in need of a refresher course.

*Who hasn't wanted to do this after getting sick and tired of hauling that infant car seat around? *There is never enough room in those Wal-Mart shopping carts.
*I imagine this lady just needs someone to talk to.

*This just isn't a good idea.

Danke Schoen

For the past couple of days I have felt this plague of a desire to thank a few who are due a little bit of gratitude from grateful me.

*Thank you to the ultrasound tech for saying over and over again how beautiful all my baby's parts are.

(Andelin baby #4)

*Thank you Sadlers for a great time in Portland.

(Cole at the Portland PUMP IT UP. Yes, we made him do it! He was fine once he got to the bottom.)

*Thank you to my cousin Leigh for the vintage video. One word: PRICELESS.

*Thank you Mom for the Heart Day Cookies. A big hit as always.

So much to be grateful for.

Tagged (for the first time ever)

Terilyn tagged me and so here goes. . .
Rules:
1. Answer the questions
2. Tag others and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.

Questions:

-10 years ago. . .

I would have almost been married a year and was living in a nasty studio apartment in Provo. The kind of apartment where you could watch TV, cook dinner, and take a bath all at the same time (I am not even joking).

-5 things on my list of things to do today. . .

1. Call and set up RS visits
2. Clean kids bathroom
3. Go thru maternity clothes
4. Activity Day treats
5. Ohh. .. .and drink tons of water for my ultrasound appointment!

-Snacks I enjoy. . .

Love a bowl of cereal (anytime of day), graham crackers and milk, chips and salsa, and granola bars.
*NOTE: Because I am pregnant and still nauseated, this list may be totally different 6 months from now or even 6 minutes from now.

-Three bad habits. . .

1. Blowing things out of proportion in my head.
2. Not being sensitive enough.
3. Biting my nails during movies.

-Five places I've lived

Carrollton, Texas
San Ramon, California
Duluth, Georgia
Naperville, Illinois
Renton, Washington

-5 jobs I have had

Linens N' Things
Chess King (cheesy mall retail store)
Marshalls
Receptionist at Parkway Construction Co.
Receptionist at Fire King of Seattle

-5 things people don't know about me

-I can kind of draw.
-I eat all my sandwiches dry. (no mustard, no mayo)
-Bridges scare me. (Driving off a bridge=worst nightmare)
-I've gotten a spray tan before.
-I sat two rows behind Julia Roberts and her husband at a movie theater in New York.

-What if I suddenly had a million dollars. . .

I would travel, travel, travel (and take everyone I know with me)

I am tagging: Leigh, Karen C. (now you have to post), and Ashley E.

Road Trip

This weekend we took a road trip, and no road trip is complete in this family without some uninhibited rocking out in the car (this I learned from my MOM.)

*keep the music on my playlist going to hear what exactly we were rocking out to.

Brynn's Heart Bash

Brynn asked if she could have a Valentine's Day party this year. Here is quick recap of the happenings.

A little crafting.

(The girls had fun making these heart rings.)

A little duck-duck-goose. (heart-heart-valentine in this case)

A little cup cake decorating.

A little smores action. (complete with pink marshmellows)

(The girls liked the whole roasting marshmellows thing. Who doesn't?)

And one BIG smile out of this girl! Which makes any effort absolutely worth it.

Dreaming BIG

All right. . .so I'm not getting a poem or an original composition for my birthday. I've made peace with that. What brings me the most birthday bliss is the day spent with my family (poem or not). However, I will not stop dreaming because next year. . .I'm wishing for a trip to this place.

(Atlantis anyone?)

Oh. . . and I'm wishing for world peace.

Hey, a girl can dream, right?

Birthday Request

Rob: What do you want for your birthday?
Me: Oh. . .I don't know. (*this is a total lie.)
Rob: Well, would you want to go do something?
Me: Yea, sounds good. Surprise me. Take me out, wine me dine me. Be sweet!
Rob: I can be sweet.
Me: Write me a poem. . .sing me a song you wrote about my beauty. (*me getting a little carried away.)
Rob: What? Kristin, that's not sweet. . .that's gay.

My husband makes me laugh!

Disclaimer:

(No offense to anyone whose man has actually written a poem or song for them. You just have to know mine.)

I'm Not Dry Yet

My daughter, the sensory kid, cannot get dressed in the morning until she is completely dry. This means a lot of time spent laying on her bedroom floor in her towel. Cole has taken to joining her. I couldn't resist the photo opp.

Real Beauty

Real Beauty. I have to teach my daughter what this is, before the world does.

Stream of Consciousness

So. . .what's it like to live a day in this woman's head. I made an attempt to log a few of my thoughts on this day, February 5, 2008. I wonder if a year from now my random thoughts will be that much different from what they were today?
  • The Lord has promised me wisdom as a mother to my 3 children.
I wonder if I am tapping into any of that yet?
  • I wonder if Heath Ledger really died of an accidental overdose?
  • My son Cole is hilarious!
  • I wonder if I have said anything lately that may have offended someone?
  • I have good friends.
  • I really need new kitchen rags! (not a word dandee!)
  • I can't stand the state of my bathrooms for much longer.
  • My daughter is already acting like a teenager.
  • That person looks completely unfriendly and cold. . .Kristin, you shouldn't rush to judgement.
  • My husband is being sweet to me tonight. . . what does he want?
  • I am so worthless after I put my kids to bed.
  • I need some chocolate.
  • What a blessing my little family is to me (I thought this after I stood and watched each of them sleeping peacefully in their beds)
  • I better go to bed.

Side Notes:

-These are just a sampling. A revealing of all my thoughts would have been frightening for all.

-Yes, I purposefully made my bed before I took this picture.

Dear Brock and Brynn

Thanks for the note!
I Love You Both,
Mom
PS: I hope the baby comes too!

Does this baby. . .

*Question: Does this baby. . .

-make my butt look big? (found hoodie here.)

-make my face break out like I'm sixteen all over again?

-make me feel reeeeally old and reeeeally tired?

-make my stomache feel like its been on the tea cup
ride at Disney Land for four straight months now?

-make me marvel at the miracle that is taking place inside
my body without any real effort on my part?

*Anwer: YES to all!

Welcome to My World: Population 5

After much deliberation, and mostly due to the fact that I am the last person on the planet without one, I have decided to try this blog thing. I blog for myself and for my family and friends, with the hope that others will enjoy a glimpse into my world and the five people that it consists of (myself included of course.) I vow to be real and perfectly imperfect as always. All while brightening your day with the many kinds of people and things that color mine.
