now...what's the theme?

This is what I have been doing in my spare moments. Playing with paper and glue. (anything to put off piles of laundry and dirty bathrooms) And while I was pleased with the end result, others in this house had different opinions. My favorite was by my all too practical son who looked at this collage and said,

"now...what's the theme?"

I have to smile at this. Funny how the creative brain and the all too practical science brain see things so different. But that is a subject for a different post.

Happy Weekend!

for the grandmas

A few Easter pics with behind the scenes commentary by MOM:

(minutes before we have to leave and this one can't find his shoes anywhere)

(she spent the last half hour crying about how her Easter dress was bothering her)

(this one spent 3/4 of this day on his bed in time out)

(and this one...he spit up all over his Dad's suit right after this shot was taken)

Happy Easter Grandmas.

B.Y.O.B

(B.Y.O.B- bring your own bib)

so this is how it goes: food flying everywhere, big brother laughing himself senseless, and me trying to say "no. no." but failing to keep a straight face.

my SIL had this on her blog. i loved this talk when i heard it. coupled with music and pictures...i'm moved to tears.

"creation is your opportunity in this life"

love that part.

today i plan to create:

a smile on my toddler's face
some confidence in one very nervous baseball playing son
a great up-do for my only girl's barbie
and a good meal for my family
made an attempt at a silhouette.

run away

Brynn: I am going to run away from home
Me: That's fine, but I will miss you.

(a few moments silence)

Me: Where are you going to live?
Brynn: Probably one of those houses made of tree stems. You know...a log-in.
Me: You mean a log cabin?
Brynn: Yeah.
Me: Sounds great. I'm coming too. You're not going to some log-in get a way without me.

she smiles, i laugh.

post "run away" incident.

drama defused. although i'm thinking she may have had something with that whole log-in retreat thing. i'm suddenly feeling tempted to run away myself.

care to join me?

i love this

birds at home

i thought this photography was brilliant. it is true to life, but in no way lacking in artistry.

Julie Blackmom is the photographer and here is what she says about her work:

The stress, the chaos, and the need to simultaneously escape and connect are issues that I investigate in this body of work. We live in a culture where we are both “child centered” and “self-obsessed.” The struggle between living in the moment versus escaping to another reality is intense since these two opposites strive to dominate.

my thoughts exactly. cool to see the struggle brought to life in such creative form.
